New Patient Journey


As a new patient to the practice you will be welcomed by our friendly reception team at a time that is convenient for you.

Clinical Consultation

At your first visit, we will ask you to complete a full medical history and dental health questionnaire. Your dentist will introduce themselves and invite you to come through to their surgery.
Your dentist will undertake a full oral health assessment, looking at your: teeth, gums, soft tissues and performing a comprehensive oral cancer screening.
X-rays, digital photos and impressions may be taken with your consent to gain a better understanding of your oral health.
No treatment will be undertaken at this appointment and plenty of time will be available for your dentist to explain their findings to you, and for you to ask any questions you may have.

Treatment planning

At Castlegate we believe it is important to understand your objectives and concerns and tailor a treatment plan specifically to you.
After explaining their findings, your dentist will listen to what you have to say and work with you to design a bespoke treatment plan detailing all the options and costs.
We want you to be able to make an informed decision and understand that you may need time to think about your decision and discuss it with family before proceeding.


Once you have made your decision you can book your appointments at a time that is convenient for you with our helpful reception team. We will print off a copy of the treatment plan you have chosen and go through with you what we will do at each appointment.
Our highly skilled team use the latest technology, best materials and finest dental laboratories to give you the best possible result.

Follow up

Once the treatment is complete your dentist will advise you about when they would like to see you again. They may wish to review you in a couple of weeks time or to arrange another check-up in 6 months’ time. Of course, if you have any questions or would like to be seen sooner do not hesitate to contact us at Castlegate and we can arrange this for you.


At Castlegate we operate a pay as you go approach, so you only pay for what you have had done at that appointment. However, should you want to pay the full amount in advance you can.
